SHINee, Big Bang and 2NE1 are still my favorites because they were a big part of my adolescence, but I've been enjoying exploring all the new stuff too! Not just BTS. (I'm also really mad at myself for not listening to more K-R&B sooner but it's absolutely fantastic as well!) I actually avoided K-pop as well, until I heard Mic-Drop. So don’t @ me here but I’m not into cheesy songs like Boy with luv. Only high paced music. Like Mic-drop. Sure there are a few exceptions but not really. But now I hop around k-pop! It’s a really cool genre of music and I enjoy it. I’m just a little scared of the fan-base...

I came into the K-Pop hole in early 2020. My sister was a Stay (Stray Kids fans, idk i think they named us that), and she showed me the Victory Song MV and i was lost. I think I kept listening to it but then I found more about them through my sister and the internet. I took a break from them early this year and it's all been well. I took a break from them because a game went Gensh-IN to my life and it won't Gensh-OUT. My sister still shows me some of their latest stuff but I've been having a break Moral of my story : you can escape the hole.... For now but it would still catch up to you and try and drag you down once more

I hate people who say "oh look its a ARMY" or "Hi there aRMy!1 you going to go fangirl over some BTS member!1" LIKE BRUH! If you don't like K-pop then don't make fun of people who do! Pineapples. I was at 10 ft radius of that thing at all times. Basically when I was little the first time I ate a pineapple it was REALY REALY sour and even a little bitter. I avoided them for most of my life, until recently my mom convinced me to try because she bought a more expensive pineapple. And I decided to hell with it I ain't gonna waist my moms money. And I tasted it. And it was f*cking amazing. It was sweet, juicy, with a little sour taste to balance the sweetnes and I loved it. So... thats how Istarted eating pineapples

I almost fell in but the only thing that got me was Dynamite, and that's the only one. I actually have some tips to avoid falling in. 1: Be slightly emo 2: Make memes 3: Listen to a variety of music like Lil Nas X, Arctic Mokeys and Beatles. It depends, if u enjoy it then u may find fans who also enjoy it with no issue at all. But for me it was just completely toxic told them that I didn't like it and got attacked by the toxic fans. Really it all depends on what u want to do, u may find normal and nice fans or stalkers and toxic fans.

I despised k pop at first because my crush had crushes on bts and I was jealous lol but then another crush of mine liked blackpink so I just listened to it and- fast forward two weeks and I have a bias and I’ve watched every single bit of content I could find. Then dynamite came on and- my life is a mess, but the industry is absolutely questionable and I dislike it’s questionable actions towards the idols ._.

There's all sorts of different music in kpop and it's been around for a while, so it's hard to summarize. I'd shop around for different music videos that look interesting to you, and your algorithm will end up suggesting more to you. My personal favorite is Day6, an instrumental band with music on the pop-rock spectrum. People that don't love k-pop music tend to still love Day6. If you enjoy dancing, I'd recommend getting into the dance practice videos (Seventeen are A+ dancers). If you want to check out groups that make their own music: Day6, Stray Kids, Pentagon, Seventeen, (G)Idle, EXID, BTS, and more. If your looking at the non-music kpop content, i STRONGLY recommend Going Seventeen, Seventeen's own youtube show. FUCKING HILARIOUS. Lastly, ignore all the people that say "this group is the special one", "you need to like everything by this group", "you need to be devoted to this group", etc. They're biased. Let your own taste guide you to what YOU like, even if you only like one of their songs and you don't feel like learning their names or anything. There's all sorts of negative toxic discourse out there that will try and tell you all these rules for 'stanning', and you can ignore that. Music is music, just vibe to what you want. This is such a long reply I'm sorry.
